Weekend warrior rulebook

Please read carefully

Aim

To cover the furthest distance, during challenge hours, over the event weekend. Only completed triathlons will count - distance will be measured by taking the official course length (per challenge distance) multiplied by the amount of laps achieved.

results

The Official Weekend Warrior (WW) results will be published on the website once they have been verified. Weekend Warriors will also be able to view their split time for each triathlon completed.

Timetable

The starting Weekend Warrior only wave on Saturday is at 09:00, with the last possible wave start at 15:30. The starting Weekend Warrior only wave is on Sunday is at 10:30, with the last possible wave start at 14:20.

We recommend arriving 90 minutes before your scheduled start time to allow time to check in, familiarise yourself with the venue and set up in transition.

THE WEEKEND WARRIOR EVENT PROCEDURE

  1. All WW race packs will be picked up on Saturday morning. Follow signs to WW registration on entry.

  2. This year all WW will have 1 timing chip for the weekend and should hand this back at the end of the event on Sunday at the finish line.

  3. WW will receive their initial briefing and introductions in transition at 08:15 on Saturday. Please do not be late for this as it may result in you missing the start.

An additional safety briefing will take place at the swim start area.

4. Once WW have finished a triathlon, they can take any official route back to the start. Please be considerate to the public.

5. WW do not need to return to transition after each triathlon, however they need to co-ordinate getting their wetsuits back to swim start and their shoes back to transition.

6. Before starting their next triathlon, WW must make themselves known to the swim timing official (this person will be pointed out to you in your safety briefing). WW will join the back of the queue to enter the water in a time trial format. Waiting time is expected to be under 1 minute.

7. WW must be granted permission by the swim safety team to walk onto the pontoon before entering the water; do not run on the pontoon.

8. After the first triathlon of the day, WW can start each new triathlon whenever they want. Except:

  • If a group of participants are lined up in the start pen and have already started loading into the water. In such circumstances, WW must wait and join the back of the next group of.

  • Saturday last Sprint: 14:50

  • Saturday last Super Sprint: 15:30

  • Sunday last Sprint: 13:35

  • Sunday last Super Sprint: 14:20

9. WW MUST OBEY MARSHALLS AT ALL TIMES OR THEY WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

The weekend warrior rules

  • Wetsuits are compulsory.

  • All BTF rules and regulations must be followed at all times.

  • You are undertaking an extreme endurance challenge. There is qualified medical support at the event should you feel unwell, but please be sensible and compete within your own capability.

  • In transition, all participants will keep the same place on the racking throughout the event day, but you must take your bike home with you on Saturday night. We do not offer over-night racking for security reasons.

  • WW do not take priority over other participants at the event. Other participants may hold you up or get in your way, please appreciate this is unavoidable at a mass participation event.

  • Please remember for some people this will be their first ever triathlon, please treat everyone out on the course with respect.

support teams

  • Each WW will be provided with 2 wristbands, one for the athlete and one for a member of their support team – this spare wristband will grant that person access to transition.

  • Transition access for support team is via the Weekend Warrior transition crossing point at the far end of transition (next to swim in).

  • Support crew are only allowed in Weekend Warrior transition, not on the course itself.

  • Weekend Warriors will have yellow swim caps.

  • Two wristbands (one for WW and one for member of support crew).

  • Two event bibs (one for Saturday, one for Sunday).

  • Four safety pins.

  • Bike number.

  • Helmet number.

  • One reusable timing chip that must be returned at the end of racing on the Sunday (only attach on event day, on your left ankle and under your wetsuit. Do not remove until you have completed your event).
